Mississippian Prisoner Effigy Pipe, Peoria, IL, ca 1200 AD

A highly polished quartz like brown stone pipe in the form of a crouching figure in subservient position with bound arms and neck. Wearing decorated ear spools, hairbun, and loin cloth the prisoner pipe gives us an insightful glimpse into the dress and regelia of the time.  Found by Foster Burns, a lifetime employee of the Caterpillar Tractor Company of Peoria, IL.  Measures 5" length x 2 1/2" width x 3 5/8" height.
