Ceremonial Deity Effigy Mace, Costa Rica, ca 100 AD
A Pre Columbian ceremonial mace from Costa Rica in the form of a human deity. The deeply drilled eyes, mouth and finely sculpted features give the mace an expressive appearance. Carved from a speckled green stone with prehistoric tooling signatures. This would have been used as a ceremonial weapon and would have indicated the owner's high status. 4" length x 3 3/4" width x 2 1/2" height.
